Situated on a north facing hill on the edge of Corio Bay, this site offers sensational panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay with distant views of Melbourne on the horizon. The existing buildings were very basic and somewhat rustic in character and our client wished to transform them into a venue to endorse the huge potential the site had to offer.

Major extensions occurred to the view side of the building and large fixed glazed areas provided panoramic views from almost every seating position. Substantial covered deck areas to the north stepped down and out giving alternative and additional seating amongst the vines of the estate.

The entry greets the visitor as a large, covered tower set at the end of a long wall of rusted panels. The rabbit’s ears jump out towards you, day, or night. The ceiling of the main dining space is a reflection of the rolling hills of the surrounding landscape, created using timber slats in a restful curving motion from which a ‘cloud’ of pendant lights emerges.

Jack Rabbit winery has become a popular place for anything from intimate dinners and group functions, up to weddings and all things in between.
