This new school is for a small rural community in Gippsland. The school council were united in their desire to have an up-to-the minute technical facility for their children’s learning but also that the form and materials should reflect their own unique country community. Hence the building is expressed as a series of simple forms, the main expression being the gabled barn-like form of the learning spaces. Materials were chosen to reflect this character also.
Flexibility in division / integration of internal spaces using operable walls and central multi-use project spaces allows exploration of educational pedagogy and longivity of this building for many years.
